The Basics

We are offering an exciting opportunity for 4-5 performers of all ages (over 18). By joining Ensemble ‘84, you will be part of a dynamic ensemble committed to creating bold new theatre for the 21st Century. You will have the opportunity to develop your talents, collaborate on groundbreaking projects, and contribute to productions that resonate with both local and global audiences.

Location: Our Lady, Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Horden, SR8 4NQ

Training Fee: National Living Wage - £12.71 per hour

Fees for Performances: £601 per week x 4 weeks

Expenses: Travel can be supported

Term: 20+ weeks, February 2026 - July 2026

Hours: 30 hours per week (6 hours per day, 5 days per week) for training. 40 hours per week for Productions.

Application Deadline: Monday 2nd February, 12pm

Auditions: 4, 5 & 6 February, 10am-8pm (recalls 9th February)

Start Date: 16 February 2026

Indicative Term Dates

Training: 16 February 2026 - 27 March 2026

Creation & Presentation: from mid April 2026

Timings for Training

Monday-Friday, 10.30am-4.30pm

Who We’re Looking For

Performers of all ages (over 18) - you need to be 18 on or around the 1st October to join. There is no upper age limit and we encourage those in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s 60s and beyond to apply.

Based in County Durham - you’ll need to have a county postcode or live within a 10 mile radius of Horden. If unsure, ask us before you apply.

Be able to commit to attending from February 2026 to approx July 2026 - from workshops to creation and performances.

You don't need extensive experience of the performing arts. If you are passionate about performing and willing to undertake an intensive period of training - with a view to become a professional performer within a year - we would love you to apply or visit one of our open days for more information.

All applicants who meet our basic criteria will be invited to an audition. We will be making our decisions by the 11th February. Please inform us if you need any additional support for the audition if selected
